Six WWII veterans from the Fernley-area experienced a flight of a lifetime through the Ageless Aviation Dreams Foundation (AADF). AADF President Darryl Fisher restored the Foundation’s plane, a 1940s Boeing Stearman, with the goal of recognizing veterans living in long-term care communities through providing a memorable experience in flight.

The Ageless Aviation Dreams Foundation is a non-profit organization established and dedicated to honoring seniors and United States military veterans. The primary focus is on individuals living in long-term care communities. Its mission is to “Give Back To Those Who Have Given”. Through its donors, the foundation provides Dream Flights in a Boeing Stearman biplane, the same aircraft used to train many military aviators in the late thirties and early forties.

The following local WWII veterans from the Fernley Estates: Senior Living and Memory Care received a Dream Flight:
Jim Freeman: Mr. Jim Freeman is 91 years old. He was an AMM2 while serving in the United States Navy. He served his country from 1942-1948. Some of the highlights for Jim while serving in the Navy were visiting other countries such as Puerto Rico. Though he liked to visit other places, what he absolutely loved was coming back home to his wife and kids. Submitted by DAR Fort Churchill Chapter Secretary Lynda Freeman, Jim Freeman’s Daughter In law.
